The Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Sunrise Foundation was formed in May 2002 as a 501(c)3 in order to better serve our members and the club with respect to funding our local and global service projects. All club fundraising efforts benefit our Foundation, and it manages accounts for our BackPacks for Kids, Born to Read and global service projects, as well as the Rotary Youth Exchange Travel Stipend Award.

Our Foundation sponsors a mini-grant program each spring, offering up to 10 grants in the amount of $100 to $1,000 each. Grant applications are available online each January. The grant submission deadline for 2023 is April 21. Beneficiaries in 2021, 2022 have included: Arts for All of Northern Michigan, Elk Rapids Schools Sunrise Academy, Families Against Narcotics - Grand Traverse, Leo Creek Preserve, Newton’s Road, PoWeR! Book Bags, Read To Me, Safer Kids, Safer Schools, Step Up Northern Michigan, Vasa Ski Club, Boots for Kids, Child & Family Services NWMI, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Greenspire School, Kingsley High School Student Council, Northwest MI Supportive Housing, Remain in Touch, Silver Lake Elementary, Step Up Northern MI, TART, The Depot Jordan Valley Teen Center.

Over $112,000 has been awarded as part of this funding program.
