Students with their bikes

2021 Secondary School Bicycle Share Project

As Rotarians, we engage in international service to help make the world a better place. In that spirit, members from our Club traveled to the Mangochi District of Malawi in 2016, 2017, and 2019 to help construct new school facilities. Club members will continue to address the educational needs in Malawi through the 2021 “Secondary School Bicycle Share Project.” This project will provide bikes for transportation to school, two micro-loan bicycle repair businesses for sustainability, and vocational repair training for interested students. The result of the project will help students who live long distances from school regularly attend in a state of mind effective for learning, increase safety of students as they travel to school, and decrease drop out rates. Ultimately our goal is to lift up young women and men, offering them a better life through education.

We’re partnering with the Warm Hearts Foundation—a non-profit organization headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, Norte Youth Cycling of Traverse City, Elk Rapids Rotary Club, and Limbe Rotary Club in Malawi.
