2007/2008 Accomplishments
- Deborah, our eldest child has just graduated from high school [senior six]. She is pending joining high institution of learning.
- Bitone has just concluded her first ever music album produced by Grant Buhr, from Los Angeles, USA. The album has been unofficially launched in USA
- Bitone children in the primary sector have been placed in better schools for better education. (WCS grant funded)
- Damalie a senior four candidate is waiting to sit her final examinations this year.
- Last year Liz completed her senior four and she is now in senior five
- Residential training and workshops about dance, music, crafts, education and home management continue to be conducted at the center
- Bitone performed on the World Culture Day staged at the National Theatre on 21st May 2008
- Bitone participated in the Dance Workshop at Kampala Ballet School with the students from New York University, USA
- Deborah represented Bitone in a Residential Costume Designing Workshop which took place at Ntinda Nob View Hotel. She won the best participant and awarded a certificate.
- Bitone officially received a registration certificated of a non-profit organization from Ugandan government (WCS grant supported and funded)
- Bitone installed a water system [tap water].
- Matron: Due to the increasing demand in management of the kid's home activities, the management decided to recruit a full-time matron who resides at the center. Mrs. Moreen Kizza Namatovu is a hard working parent whose contributions so far have changed and impacted children's lives tremendously and positively. (WCS funded in part)
- Bitone Members: We are happy to announce to you that Bitone is now fully housing its members (kids) at the center. The Center is now renting a second on-site domicile which houses the 12 boys. (WCS grant funded)
- School Tuition (3 terms) funded for all 25 Bitone children including: 13 primary, 5 secondary and 3 high school children. (WCS grant funded)
- Additional school books and supplies, shoes, clothes and kids personal items provided (WCS grant funded)
- New School backpacks with fully loaded supplies for all 25 children (Traverse Bays Sunrise Rotary Club - Backpacks for Kids program and donation of shipping by FedEx.)
- Full physical eye and dental checkup's and follow-up care for all 25 children (WCS grant funded)
- Additional food elements added to diet and food procurement for all 25 children occurring as bulk purchases and regular supplementation (WCS grant funded)
- Center building rental including additional building for separate boys domicile and utilities paid for (WCS grant funded).
- Bunk beds and mattresses for boys domicile (Albion Collage Bitone Project funded)
