Bulletin Buddy Note-Taking Form (also at front desk)

At any time don't be surprised if a new member offers to bump a designated Bulletin Buddy for 50/50 sales or note-taking opportunities. We know you will happily step aside to enable their progress against new member orientation program (red badge).

If you wish to be added to the rotation please contact Nancy Thornton.

If a date you've been assigned is not convenient, we appreciate your initiative to exchange with a fellow Rotarian.

Guests: Joe Tuck (guest of Craig; works at Larken Insurance, also attended Rotaract info meeting); Kip NIckel and Dana Venhuizen (prospective members)

Visiting Rotarians: None

50/50  Winner: Laura was the lucky winner of $26

Announcements:
  1. Be sure to save the date for our December 'Sunrise at Sunset' Happy Hour - December 17th at Cambria Suites. We'd love to see a great turnout as we ring in the holidays together. Any time 5:00/5:30 and on . . .
  2. Val reminded us that December 1st is the deadline to submit Rotary's $250 individual match form. Minimum contribution is $25. Please don't leave this money on the table. See related article for all the details.
  3. Craig announced that the board is recommending the following individuals as members: Nathan Hoard, Kip Nickel, Kimberly Purdy and Dana Venhuizen. Members with questions/comments are to contact any member of the Board.
  4. Our next Club Board meeting is Tuesday, December 1st at 5pm at LInda Raetz office: 1102 Cass Street. New members, this is one of the items on your club orientation checklist :-)
  5. December 8th is the Rotary Christmas Party taking place, this year, at Grand Traverse Yacht Club. See details in event flyer.
  6. Joey reminded us that she's accumulating Pampered Chef orders to maximize the 20% match from Pampered Chef to Backpacks for Kids. See related article.
Knowing Our Members
New member, Anne Bonney, took us on her whirlwind tour around the world. Born in Virginia, she grew living the Marriott life in places like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece. While her parents were in Greece she attended Interlochen Arts Academy (voice). She graduated from James Madison University in Virgina with a degree in Pyschology and Special Education. Her career has included time spent as a teacher, as part of an award-winning marketing team for Under Armor, and as director for a network of NYC/east coast fitness clubs. Anne took to running and has completed multiple marathons in her quest to run one on each continent, which also led to her involvement with morale-building trips to Iraq. She has taken all of this amazing life experience and is channeling it through her own consulting practice where she is a speaker, runs leadership workshops, and offers personal (and fitness) coaching. Anne's first meeting at Traverse Bay Sunrise was 3 days after having moved here from New York City. She is currently living on Old Mission Peninsula.

Charter member Mary Krantz shared her journey from Midland to Traverse City. Her father worked at Dow Chemical, and her mother was a nurse. As one of six kids, Mary grew up enjoying summers at Glen Lake. She attended Central Michigan University where she earned her degree in Business Administration. She and her husband, Harvey, lived in Lansing but both enjoyed time spent up north. One day the decision was made - he moved to Lake States Insurance and she started at Dennis, Gartland & Niergarth where she has been ever since.  Mary and Harvey have three kids. In addition to her involvement with Rotary she is a member of Zonta, is active with Traverse City Little League, and she serves as Treasurer for Inland Seas Education Association. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sailing and swimming. She described herself as a fair-weather skier -- 28 degrees, sunny and no wind.

We still need two ringers for the 2 to 4pm shift Saturday December 5th, and one ringer for 6 to 8pm shift on Tuesday December 8th. Please check the online sign-up by clicking on event (see left margin).

As a Rotarian in this 5-county Grand Traverse region we have the amazing opportunity to double our charitable contributions with a 1:1 match through the Rotary Charities Matching Gift Program (up to $250 annually)!

Recipients must be non-profit, tax-exempt organizations with operations in the five counties of Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau and fit within the guidelines of the Rotary Fund. Ineligible organizations include fraternal, social, union, political or veteran groups, university or college alumni associations and church operating funds.

Deadline for this cycle is December 1st.

Click here to access the forms (located on home page and at left side of bulletin).

If you aren't sure if you've already used your $250 please ask our Club Treasurer, Lilly Clark.

For every $600 sold, Pampered Chef will redirect 20% of the proceeds to our BackPacks for Kids program.

Joey will accumulate smaller orders to maximiize our ability to take advantage of this offer.
