What You Missed
August 1, 2018:
Life Leadership Student Update: Massimo Vozza shared about his two favorite camp initiatives that allowed the whole group to learn more about their own and others’ leadership styles, how to work as a team, and what might be some challenges of being a world leader. Pierson Klein especially enjoyed the speakers—really quality and motivational—he spoke about the personal impact the speakers had on him. With their free time, they had options to enjoy the outdoors at the camp. Pierson’s favorite free time activity was learning Euchre (which was met with much cheering from the club members).
TCAPS: Sunrise member Christine Guitar, TCAPS Executive Director Communications, and Christine Thomas Hill, Associate Superintendent of Finance & Operations at TCAPS, encouraged us to vote and get others out to vote at the primary August 7th. This vote will impact TCAPS for the next ten years with a 3.1 mills, which is the same rate as the last 20 years. TCAPS is proposing a responsible plan for maintaining and upgrading current assets. Major projects: Safety and Security Improvements, Elementary Reconstruction, High School STEM/Robotics Rooms, Facility Improvements at all Schools, Bus Replacement, and Technology. Plan reflects an internal effort in order to not go above current tax rate in response to the last special projects vote. Bond is strictly for capital projects not general fund. If bond does not pass, they will have to do required safety projects out of the general fund that will impact funding available for programming and textbooks.
