Given the potential for another snow day tomorrow due to the cold weather, just a reminder to everyone that our Club still meets, even if schools are closed. Obviously, still exercise caution and don't endanger yourself just to make it to a meeting if conditions are unsafe. Stay warm, travel safe and see you tomorrow!

MSU Extension, Jennifer Berkley: The extension started in our region to bring MSU to our area, originally, because not everyone can travel to Lansing. It started initially because of a land trade and is funded by State, Federal, County and grant dollars. Reached over 9,000 participants in Grand Traverse County over the last year, over 3,000 youth through programming.

Most are familiar with the County Fair and 4-H many youth related programs. However, the also have the following programs and priorities:
  • Priority of keeping people healthy – SNAP, Food Corp., help schools write grants for their food service.
  • Focus on mindfulness in schools and worksites.
  • Supporting Ag and agribusiness.
  • Master Gardener program – soil sample services is the number used service.
  • MSU Product Center – help bring great ideas to life.
  • Fostering Strong Communities – resource for being more effective in our local government, strategic planning, meetings, etc.
  • Protecting the Great Lakes and water resources.
