Program
Exchange Student Day
1. Before Leaving
Philip from Solvaki explained that before leaving on exchange that it was a roller coaster ride.
August - local applications and local interviews are held.
November - A fair is held where you learn about students who visited other countries and District Interviews are held.
January - find out where you are going. In TC the Rotary Downtown Club has a 'Big Reveal' meeting
February - Get together with other exchange students and host families to learn more about the country they are going to visit
April - Conference
July - Calvin College with 7 other states, over 1000 exchanges students attend
August - leave for exchange

2. In Bound Students (Carmen & Philip)
When exchange students arrive they have no friends but each day is still very exciting because it is so new. By Christmas they still don't have many friends and they are missing Christmas traditions such as the Christmas dinner carp swimming in the bathtub. After Christmas students begin to realize that they are 1/2 way through their exchange and are going home soon.

3. ReBound Students (Grace/Madilyn)
Students feel like they left 1/2 themselves in another country. They feel sad that the excitement of a different day is gone and the food has changed back to normal eating. No ore goat or carp. In other countries you have more freedom in the US parents want you to call and check in when you arrive at your destination. It takes a long time to get back into a routine but they are very happy they have family around the world.
