Our club welcomed our newest member, Russ Lawson, as part of Sunrise Rotary!

And, we had the privilege of congratulating Adam Beers as the recipient of this year’s Paul Harris Award.

NLCMHA serves over 6,000 people in their six county service area with integrated mental health care. Their mission is to “improve the overall health, wellness, and quality of life of our individuals, families and communities that we serve.” Karl reminded us that mental health issues affects 25% of the population at any given time. He shared that his vision is to cultivate hope and nurture dreams – he believes in growing human potential.

For those who access services, it is NLCMHA’s priority to help the most serious needs through emergency services – children and young people and those requiring mental health first aid.
The most pressing current mental health issues include: the opioid crisis, the prevalence and awareness of autism, the incarceration of those with mental health issues, increased homelessness, and school safety needs.

Despite this increasing needs and related costs, Karl reminded us that the NLCMHA still creates a positive economic impact to our region through provision and indirectly by supporting over 600 jobs in the region.

Bottom line, this organization holds a very important role in the health and wellbeing of our community.
