Planting Seeds
Planting Seeds was founded in 2001 with the aim of providing high-quality early childhood education to underserved populations throughout the country. Planting Seeds serves urban and rural communities with its accredited teaching methodology that implements an activity-based learning model. The Planting Seeds Teaching Methodology is currently implemented in six preschools throughout the country. Due to the pandemic, Planting Seeds has adapted to an in-home learning model where teachers train parents to take on the role of educators of their children.

In 2017, Planting Seeds extended its reach beyond preschool to offer youth and family-centered educational programming in Zone 3 in Guatemala City. Zone 3 is home to one of the largest garbage repositories in Central America where most families earn their income by collecting and selling recyclables. Amongst the programs offered in Zone 3 are: Father’s Nurturing Group, Motivated Moms, Go Girls!, English, Breakdance and our Community Library. All of these programs are led by members of the community as we work hard to provide opportunities for community members to be the drivers of change in their communities.
